Missouri in 1861 with Gregory Wolk

At 1:30 p.m., author and historian Gregory Wolk will present “Missouri in 1861: The Rise and Fall of John and Jessie Fremont.”

Discover the challenges that shaped Major General John Fremont’s command in Civil War Missouri. Wolk will explore the people, conflicts, and convictions behind this turbulent chapter in our state’s history.

His books include Friend and Foe Alike: A Tour Guide of Missouri’s Civil War and John Fremont’s 100 Days: Clashes and Convictions in Civil War Missouri.

This presentation is made possible by Missouri Humanities.
