Jim Martin had an exciting couple of days on his trip through the West to celebrate the Stars and Stripes Cities and their embrace of informed citizenship, commitment, and service.

On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, he had the honor of presenting a Stars and Stripes City Proclamation to Tacoma, Washington which was accepted by Mayor Woodards and the City Council of Tacoma. Councilman Bushnell, (pictured below far right) a veteran, discussed his enjoyment of the Stars and Stripes newspaper when he was in the service.

Then on the morning of Wednesday, August 24, 2022, Mr. Martin traveled South to the state capitol in Olympia, Washington. While there, he presented the Stars and Stripes City Proclamation to Olympia which was accepted by Mayor Cheryl Selby. He also reached out to the governor’s office and the Department of Veterans Affairs about the potential for the state of Washington to look into establishing a state Veterans Hall of Fame such as we have in Missouri.
