On Thursday, August 25, 2022, Jim Martin visited and presented proclamations to five exemplary and vibrant cities in the Puget Sound area in Washington state: Everett, Bellevue, Seattle, Kent and Federal Way. All of these cities are enthusiastically working to build partnerships to better address the important issues of informed citizenship, commitment, and service within and between their communities.
“And to focus us on the core task before us: While our visits and conversations around the West has heartened us about the leadership and building partnerships across the spectrum of organizations and institutions in our Stars and Stripes Cities, it also reinforces an awareness of the significant, and dare I say, growing challenges these and other cities, communities, and our nation as a whole are struggling with. To be blunt, we face myriad issues which make it increasingly difficult to build consensuses on solutions that increasingly threaten to tear us apart. The imperative question before us would seem to be: how do we work together better to address these challenges?”
