While in Vancouver, Washington on Friday, August 26, 2022, Jim Martin presented the Stars and Stripes City Proclamation and met with approximately 40 veterans, the mayor, and city council members. These Army, Navy, and Marine veterans have organized to help the homeless, feed the needy, create affordable housing, and do presentations in local schools, in addition to working closely their with local government in other veins.
“They are the epitome of what we want to celebrate and encourage with the Stars and Stripes Cities recognitions and our national outreach effort. I was knocked off my feet by the energy, enthusiasm, and dedication! This is the kind of organization that we need to encourage in our communities across the nation.”
– Jim Martin
Jim also visited Salem and Portland, Oregon and presented the Stars and Stripes City Proclamations there as well. He also spoke with Oregon Veterans Affairs about the potential for creating a state Veterans Hall of Fame like the one in Missouri.
