The National Stars and Stripes Museum Library will be celebrating our 3rd Annual Spirit of Democracy Banquet and Silent Auction. This event will be held at the Osage Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on Saturday, November 5, 2022. There will be delicious food, live music, a cash bar, raffles, and more. The doors will open at 5:00 p.m. and the program will start at 6:00 p.m.
We are pleased to announce that Helen Patton, granddaughter of legendary WWII tank commander General George S. Patton, Jr. will be our guest speaker along with Kevin Hymel, author of Patton’s War, An American General’s Combat Leadership. The duo will be honoring Patton’s legacy and regaling stories of Patton’s leadership. Hymel has uncovered new sources from the research of soldiers’ memoirs and interviews, adding a new dimension to the telling of Patton’s WWII story.
If you would like to attend or sponsor a table for veterans, please call 573-568-2055 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for a registration form. Individual seats are $125, half a table is $500, or a full table of 8 is $1000.
As a $1000 table sponsor of this event, you and your guests will receive a Stars & Stripes Commitment and Service pin, membership to the National Stars and Stripes Museum & Library, your choice of a veteran or servicemember being honored on our Facebook page, and an ad in the Southeast Missourian listing all the table sponsors. Thank you for all you are doing in the effort to preserve history!
Your contribution will be helping the National Stars and Stripes Museum and Library fund areas where it feels it can make the greatest impact on the historic preservation of the Stars and Stripes newspaper and related military artifacts. Through this plan of work, the National Stars and Stripes Museum and Library hopes to enhance the public’s understanding of the newspaper’s role in American and world history.
